“At a young age, Jens began discovering the world through the camera lens and broadening his horizons. Which probably explains the versatility that is reflected in his work. He is just as adept at shooting from the hip, as at executing elaborately planned stagings or complex image editing. Jens has brought architecture to life, portrayed corporate executives and celebrities, and captured everyday life on all continents of the world. He has photographed the pride of global corporations for world-wide advertising campaigns, wind farms in the stormy North Sea, power plants in the desert of Saudi Arabia, the Airbus 380 at an altitude of 10,000 meters,… and cars, cars, and more cars. And motorcycles. His photographs for advertising seem as authentic as reportage work. And his reportage photographs remain embedded in one’s mind like successful advertising. Jens Görlich lives near Frankfurt. In part because Frankfurt has an airport.”
Lars Huvart, Creative Director Ogilvy Frankfurt
“Jens doesn't take photos, he tells stories with his photographs. Authentic, impressive stories that move and take you into foreign worlds: A Chilean naval officer at Cape Horn, who mans the fort there alone with his family. Indian street children who scrape corpses off train tracks for a little money in order to survive. A forest scientist in Freiburg who turns German oaks into truffle trees. Jens creates an intensity with his images that make any magazine reportage shine. Unagitated and documentary-like, a quiet, attentive observer who immerses himself into every situation, yet doesn't take himself too seriously. Whether it was brown bears in Alaska, aerialists on a biplane or the windsurfing world champion off of Gran Canaria - for ten years I had the privilege of working as a reporter with Jens, traveling, laughing, marveling and drinking Austrian white wine. I couldn't imagine a more professional photographer and reliable friend at my side.”
Tim Cappelmann, former reporter Lufthansa Medienfamilie and Stern, JWD, today press spokesman of the Deutsche Bahn for Northern Germany
"Working with Jens is always something special for me. For me, he is one of those few photographers who has the ability to bring an idea to the next level through his photography. His extraordinary view of the big picture coupled with his meticulous attention to detail open up completely new perspectives. His independent projects provide inspiration and impressively demonstrate what high quality photography is all about. In short, I'm a fan."
